John Vontas

John Vontas obtained his BSc (1992) and PhD (1997) the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA) (1992). He then moved to to School of Biosciences at Cardiff and subsequently the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) as a Research Fellow. This was followed by a Return Marie Curie which took me to the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (IMBB-FORTH) in Crete (2002-2004). He was appointed as lecturer at AUA in 2005, and as an Associate Professor at the University of Crete in (2009-2014). Since 2014 he is Director of the Laboratory of Pesticide Science since 2014. I am also Group Leader of the Molecular Entomology group at IMBB. He has numerous publications and international reputation in the field of insecticide resistance. He is coordinator and participant in two large EU Horizon 2020 projects, Academic Editor in several international journals, and member of review panels in several international funding organisations.
